Reviewer Guidelines

Thank you for agreeing to review for Journal of Sciences (JOS). Peer review is central to maintaining the quality, originality, and integrity of the research we publish. Please read the following guidelines before submitting your review.

Confidentiality

JOS follows a double-blind peer-review process. Manuscripts assigned to you must be treated as confidential documents. Do not share the manuscript, discuss its contents, or disclose your role as a reviewer with anyone outside the editorial process without prior permission from the editor.

Conflict of Interest

If you have a personal, financial, or professional conflict of interest with the authors or the subject matter of the manuscript, please decline the review invitation and inform the editor. Reviewers should not agree to review manuscripts from close colleagues, recent co-authors, or their own institution where objectivity may be compromised.

Timeliness

Please complete your review within the timeframe specified in your review invitation. If you are unable to meet the deadline or complete the review, notify the editor as early as possible so an alternate reviewer can be assigned.

What to Evaluate

When reviewing a manuscript, please consider the following:

  • Originality: Does the manuscript present new, original findings not previously published elsewhere?
  • Scientific Validity: Are the methods appropriate and sound? Are the results supported by the data presented?
  • Clarity: Is the manuscript clearly written and logically organized?
  • Significance: Does the work contribute meaningfully to its field?
  • Ethical Compliance: Where applicable, has the study received appropriate ethical approval and informed consent?
  • References: Are references relevant, sufficient, and properly cited in Vancouver style?
  • Figures and Tables: Are they clear, necessary, and properly labeled?

Writing Your Review

Please provide constructive, specific, and professional comments that will help the author improve the manuscript, whether or not it is ultimately accepted. Avoid personal remarks about the authors. Where possible, reference specific sections, page numbers, or line numbers in your comments.

Recommendation

At the end of your review, please provide one of the following recommendations along with your supporting comments:

  • Accept Submission
  • Revisions Required (Minor)
  • Resubmit for Review (Major Revisions)
  • Decline Submission

Comments for the Editor

If you have concerns you would prefer not to share with the author directly, such as suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, or other ethical concerns, please include these in the confidential comments field addressed to the editor only.
